Much is being said today on the subject of food and health. Increasingly, the health and medical communities have made it clear that we must improve our diets if we are to feel good and enjoy long, healthy lives free from degenerative diseases associated with the aging process.

Despite the rewards of a healthy diet, many are unable to experience the benefits because of the time and work required to prepare appetizing, healthy foods. But  E! While E! Cuisine provides customized menu planning to meet all of the special dieting needs of our clients, we do not promote dieting as a long term solution to weight loss and good health. After achieving the desired results, weight loss diet plans must be followed up with a balanced approach to nutrition that truly satisfies the appetite and maintains good health.

In recent years, new research has proven some long held nutritional beliefs to be incorrect or at very least overstated. This, unfortunately, has caused many consumers to become cynical of dietary guidelines. Nonetheless, at E! Cuisine we are encouraged because the explosion of new research is now providing us with a far better understanding of how foods specifically impact our health. We are excited about taking advantage of the new findings and expect the radical shifts in advice will soon become less common.

Using credible, well researched and unbiased sources of information is key to determining what constitutes a healthy diet (see side bars). We also believe empirical data should be taken into account, giving credence to diets and lifestyles of other cultures that have a record of good health.

Consider this paradox. The French have a diet that is incredibly high in fat and cholesterol yet have 3 times less the obesity rate and are 2-1/2 times less likely to die from heart disease. There are no scientifically proven explanations yet, but it is believed that their good health is attributed to the wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains they consume daily. Other factors include a diet consisting of more fish and poultry than red meat. Lastly, the French don't eat and run. They dine and enjoy wine as they linger over delicious meals in the  company of their family and friends, eliminating stress which is known to increase cholesterol levels.

E! Cuisine encourages you to consider a similar approach to your diet with a few exceptions; less saturated fat, which also reduces calories, and a good balance of high-fiber complex carbs. The reason — protein rich food, good fats and fiber all work together to help slow the absorption of carbohydrates, resulting in a steadier and longer lasting supply of blood sugar without the highs and lows. You’ll feel better because your energy is sustained, your  hunger is controlled, and fat storage is minimized. We believe that this synergistic effect from a balanced, diversified and satisfying diet produces the best results for health and well-being.
